Week 11 reflection
As a teacher in the 21st century it is our job to incorporate technology to assist our students. They deserve to be exposed to technology that will aid in their life after K-12 school. All young people need to learn the skills necessary to live in our technology rich life. If we don't not incorporate technology into their education we are doing them a disservice, but they will be unprepared for adult life.
In the class I have learned that so much goes into having a successful makerspace. I would really like to have the opportunity to see how a successful one is run. They are such an invaluable resource in schools and I am saddened that the one at my school didn't work. I wonder what it would take to start up the space again. I think it would involve getting more teachers interested. I would love to host a makerspace day for the school to see what interest that would stir up.
Now a bit of frustration this week. I am realizing maybe it was a mistake to try to take this class while working 50+ hours a week. I feel my grades and focus are lacking because I simply don't have the time. Right now I am sitting working on this post in my work uniform because I came straight from the boat to UAS to work on my homework. Next summer I will remember this and probably won't take any classes.
